Timothy got the external fixator removed today. Before that surgery another doctor came in and examined his left knee that has the ligament damage. He said that it was developing scar tissue and thus making it stronger. He wants to restart physical therapy with that leg and let him put weight on it. That's the good news.
The surgeon talked to us after the fixator surgery. He is very concerned about the infection in the right foot. He is keeping him at St. Elizabeth's until at least Thursday. They will start antibiotics intravenously immediately and look at it again Thursday. He said it looks bad.
Here is where we are: Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center, 555 South 70th Street, Lincoln, NE 68510
Phone: 402-219-8000 (not Timothy's phone yet)

I don't know about e-mail services yet. We thought we were only going to be here this morning and then back to Madonna. We're a little rattled right now.
As always, keep Timothy in your prayers.

Sorry I haven't logged in in a while. We've been out of town. We're grateful for Timothy's progress and will dish up a good bit of prayer about that foot. And I know Mom's cookies have some comforting, perhaps even healing, qualities. Cookie power!
ReplyDeleteRegarding the posts on brain injuries and rehabiliation: I spoke with my cousin Anne Ward Stevens two weeks ago, as she was visiting Albuquerque for a conference. She's a clinical psychologist and runs a clinic in Fayetteville called MindWorks where patients learn to heal their own brains with neurofeedback. Based on what I told her about Tim's situation, she said he would be a good candidate for it and that it would help restore his brain function. She knows of a similar clinic in K.C. as well.
When you're ready, she'd be willing to talk to the family about these procedures. Meantime, I'm going to suggest she check the blog to get an overview of the situation.
